feature films, offering classics from the past and present every Tuesday
and Thursday at 9 p.m. and midnight ET/6 p.m. and 9 p.m. PT (except
where noted).

celebrates one of Canada’s most beloved winter pastimes with these
special cinematic presentations.
Ice Castles
(1978) - Tuesday, Jan. 29
This much-loved three-hankie
romance stars Lynn-Holly Johnson as an aspiring figure skating champion
whose hopes are dashed by a tragic accident. With the love and support
of boyfriend Robby Benson, she finds the strength to lace on skates and
pursue her dreams once more. With fine supporting performances from
Colleen Dewhurst, Tom Skerritt and Jennifer Warren. Marvin Hamlisch
wrote the score. Donald Wrye directed.
Queen of the Blades: The Life
and Times of Barbara Ann Scott (1997)

In 1948, Barbara
Ann Scott became the first Canadian figure skater to win an Olympic gold
medal and the first to win back-to-back world titles. In one short year,
the talented and beautiful 19-year-old claimed the title of every major
international figure skating competition and the hearts of fans around
the world. Life and Times
presents the biography of Canada's skating ambassador for half a century.
Featuring contemporary skating stars such as Kurt Browning, Brian Orser,
Toller Cranston and Liz Manley, Scott’s story reveals why one of
Canada's earliest “superstars” has remained such a compelling figure in
our country's history.
The Cutting Edge
(1992) - Thursday, Jan. 31
This charming romantic comedy
stars D.B. Sweeney as a former hockey star who’s recruited to partner
with a figure skating prima donna played by Moira Kelly (One Tree
Hill). Love blossoms between the mismatched couple as they train for
a bid at Olympic gold. Terry O’Quinn (Lost) and Roy Dotrice also
star. Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky and Hutch) directed.
